Made with Love

I am an amateur baker and love all things associated with baking artistry, including doing the dishes. :) It's my way of creating delicious art - feeding people's souls as well as their bodies. With any art, there are many different styles. I find myself drawn to the rougher edges of baking, not the fine decorating details of cakes or candies, but the textures of different flours and grains, the smells of fresh-baked bread, fluffy scones with fresh bacon and cheddar cheese, and rich, buttery caramels.

My current specialty is baklava. I love the richness of the honey and walnuts and the crispy flakiness of the phyllo. It is a flavor explosion.

The movie, Ratatouille, is one of my favorites. Anyone can cook - even me. :)

Since I am trying to live a lower carb lifestyle, I might not be baking as much as I used to, but I will be experimenting with recipes - like fresh asparagus wrapped in bacon and topped with Parmesan cheese.  It was delicious, served with fresh catfish topped with a light horseradish and BBQ sauce.  It was so good I even had it for breakfast the next day.
